about

The recording of LOD's second solo album included more guests joining him at his 14th Street home studio. Rather than play bass himself, Dean increasingly relied on fellow Fussbudget Ned Doherty, whose impeccable skills and taste are heard on half of the album's tracks. Sandwiched between songs that were rerecorded later by The Fussbudgets and The Me Decade (Dean's six-piece “orchestral pop” band, formed in Chicago) are some lost gems from the oeuvre, such as the aggro-folk opener, “Out With It,” ballad “Something Between Us,” and ode to constructive alienation “Great Big Gulp of Silence,” featuring haunting violin by Stephen Kaufmann (better known today at Thoth, subject of an Oscar-winning short documentary).
